Hey Rob,

If Pyramid won't take it maybe another Acrobat book is in order! Not
sure what the legalities would be but I'd love to see a move toward
"fleshing out" the Imperium again. Those were some of the most useful
articles in the old JTAS Challenge and the Digest.

I would vote (and will) vote for it if it shows up on Pyramid! Hope they
buy it off of you, but if not give the Acrobat book a thought. From what
I aee you could charge a couple of bucks for it (may be through one of
the on-line book sellers) and make some money back. The old argument
that once one is sold some one will spread it around to everyone is IMHO
somewhat out of place. THe Traveller community is tight enough that I
don't think we'd scr*w one of out own, and besides form the polls being
taken, we are spread out to the point where easy copying and exchange
isn't proactical. The amount (or lack of) whole sale photocopies of OOP
books is good evidence of this! H*ll, if the Trav fans were doing as
much copying as some would have us think then I would be paying some of
those really outragious prices on Ebay!

Sorry to rattle on so.

Oh yeah, please do this. Please. Maps. I love maps. Not just world maps, but
city, terrain, building plans, etc. Anything which can be pointed to with
the words: "Your characters are here, the (insert appropriate encounter)

USP during the cut-and-paste-to-email for the _Andrew Young_... Here is the
corrected version:

Diplomat-Class Battlion Transport and Support Ship
        BT-Q733AF3-009909-50T99-0 MCr45077.01 91 ktons

Batteries are 1 Spinal CPAWs, 12 Repulsor Bays, 12 Meson Bays, 12
Missile Bays and 162 pulse laser groups
        Two bridges, three computers

3 full MiB brigades. 1 deployed by drop capsule, other two land
using 20 Bulldog class LC's in two waves.
5 scoop ships carried for frontier refueling; can supply vessel
with power-plant requirements in two round-trips of group. Full tankage is
40 round-trips of entire group.
LC's and Scoop-ships are 250dton each. Bulldog LC's can be used as
ultra-heavy fighters or as ground-attack ships.

Cargo capacity is for troop equipment loads as guesstimated by
myself in an earlier post.
She has no hull armor because she is a dispersed structure hull,
partially to limit the effectiveness of ground-based meson sites and mostly
to keep costs down.

I would prefer not to have e-mail addresses on the web site at all.
I run a fantasy hockey league, and I used to have the e-mail addresses
of the league members on the league web site, until one player asked
me to remove his address because he was getting a lot of unwanted
sports-related spam -- someone was harvesting the addresses from the
web pages. So I removed the addresses entirely (except for the league
office's address on the front page). The amount of sports-related spam
dropped to zero within a couple of weeks, tops.

Alternate suggestion: instead of addresses, put in web site URLs.

As a quick fix why not add B:1 rank to # of terms served? If appropriate
you could use something like [(Enlisted rank/2) -1] to get a commissioned
rank equivalent for senior enlisted , allowing long-timers to see enhanced
pension benefits, too (not that KCr 16/p.a. for an 8-term (!) E-9 engineer
necessarily seems really rich, unless he/she/it can acquire/build a second
income, perhaps using their cash from mustering out?).

I believe the idea is that the tax revenue from, for example,
Regina,
would be used to raise, equip, and support a corps, army, or army
group stationed on and recruited from that world. Many items of
equipment might well be locally produced and acquired. Military pay
and a portion of the equipment cost would be recycled into the local
economy. I don't completely agree with this, but it is my understanding
of how it works.

This I have to disagree with. The dirtside employee has to pay for
his residence and sustenance out of his income. The starship crew
has his domicile and upkeep supplied as part of his work conditions.
Given the same job, say steward or computer tech, I would expect the
shipboard position to pay significantly LESS that the ground-side one.

<shrug> I can see how some people might not want their email addresses up on
a webpage. Mine has popped up all over the net, in one way or another, and I
am not yet inundated with spam (I estimate that I get maybe 8 - 10 pieces on
a heavy week).

I don't mind my address being up, as I doubt that it will actually make me
any more visible than I already am.

As far as I care, list my e-mail in the clear... any method of putting it
up will result in spam, period. One of the risks of list e-mailing is that
someone you do not know can get your email address. If someone wants to
spam us bad enough, they'll just sub, strip addresses out (ForEx, on
non-digest version, Eudora nicely strips out the sender's emails...), and
then spam via a bogus mail account... after all, most SMTP servers don't
use any security protocols.

Here in Vancouver we've got a club at UBC - cheap pop/snacks, easy
availability of rooms (up to tournament/convention scale if planned
carefully); various games active every day during class, as well as
Monday & Friday evenings, and Sundays. RPG's typically get organized
at the club and then run elsewhere, thus disappearing.

Club members also get access to the games library, which includes most
of the games that GDW published (including the Traveller-related games),
and a fair chunk of the (non-DGP) Traveller RPG stuff. If you live in the
Lower Mainland it's a pretty good deal at $6/year.

Contract negotiations are going with the planetary government to provide
defense. Seems the folks want
a fighting force along the lines of Dorsai or Hammers Slammers, relegated

Subject: Re: Religion

Snip:
Christianity, LIC
The Jesuits are a perfect example, < snip>
Don't forget the Benedictines as well as the varieties of reliious and
pseudo
religious orders/organizations that non-christian main line religious
traditions create. The various chinese monastic traditions or the spins offs
as
well as such hybrids as that Coptic mix of christianity and polytheism
practiced in Sudan. Add this to a galactic society, sit back and watch the
fun.

Also, here's a particularly interesting thought:
A Henry VIII style Emperor with a taste for religious mania such as
the Byzantine Emperor possessed coupled with a great miltary
ability and a side-kick name RIcheleu

Some idle thoughts

PS IMTU religion does play a fairly note worthy position.

Thanks
